Sado Island is reached by ferry from Niigata Port. The Sado Kisen high-speed jetfoil takes about 65 minutes; the car ferry takes around 2.5 hours. Ogi Port is on the southern tip of the island, roughly 40 minutes by bus or car from Ryotsu Port where most ferries arrive. Plan your travel early. August sailings fill up.
